Dinesh is the fifth of six brothers in a family of traditional weavers. His father won the President’s National Award for
Craftsmanship in 1974 for an innovation on the Dhablo, a traditional Kutch wool blanket. Having completed an MA while working
with the family weaving business, Dinesh would like to expand the business. His vision is to concentrate on fine count weaving with
organic cotton, silks and wools, in addition to the original woolen shawls and dhurries. He also intends to increase international
contacts and wholesale markets.
“In the past my father was inspired from a peaceful life. We have a hectic time and I enjoy the tranquility of the morning before we
come to class. At KRV I have learned how to interact with all kinds of people, colleagues, customers and teachers. I realize the
importance of paying attention to my surroundings and observing everything for new ideas or for clues about what people want in
my weaving.”
