Hansuben learned embroidery from her mother and sister in her native village Dhaban when she was 15. She attended
school til 3rd grade, but the quality of education in the village was poor. She honed her embroidery skills in DCH funded Kala
Raksha embroidery classes, which were taught by Monghiben Raja and Lakhuben Hamir Hansuben has worked with Kala Raksha
for 9 years.
She has a particular interest in current Rabari fashion, and devotes time to making garments for herself in addition to income
generation work. Fashion is the future of our work, she says. “We learned sampling. This is useful before the real piece- it saves
time and materials. And we learned to use our own efforts. My homework was given first prize.”
