Ramiben grew up in Dhaban. She attended school for two years but did not enjoy it and left. At age 15 she learned embroidery,
by watching her friends and making lots of mistakes! “When I figured embroidery out,” she says, “I really got into it.”
Soon after her marriage, Ramiben began to embroider with Kala Raksha. But she continues to embroider for herself as well.
“Tradition and profession are both important,” she says. “We have to wear some embroidery, and we like fashion.” Rami has hardly
traveled due to having small children. She came to Sumrasar Sheikh for the first time for the KRV admissions interview.
“We are limited by our lack of education,” Rami laments. “But if God wills, I may do something.” In embroidery she is confident.
“In that subject I can do anything!” she says.
