Mubin is the eldest son of a middle class Khatri family engaged in block printing in Dhamadka village. Mubin studied up to
9th standard. He learned his art from his uncle and father, and after finishing 9th standard began to work with his father, who is
doing job work for other big crafts persons of the village. Mubin started his work with printing blocks. He likes the natural dyeing
process, and he believes that good design is traditional design. He likes the original designs of Ajrakh.
According to Mubin, their art is passing through a struggling phase. Craft persons are loosing their material and human resources to
the industrialization process that started after the Earthquake of 2001. However, he is optimistic about crafts persons who love their
craft. “My art is running in my blood. It is a gift of age old tradition. If I don’t care for it, who else will care for it?”
