Sangitaben's
parents migrated
from Sindh to Gujarat in 1972. She was the first child,
and has two younger brothers. Her father farms and does
tailoring. Sangitaben was not particularly fond of
school -especially English and math. Now, she says, she
sees the value of education. Sangitaben learned
embroidery from her mother when she was 12. She
specifically learned for earning. She has worked for
Shrujan. Her mother is member of a savings group in
Bidada.
"Embroidery is our identity, our name," Sangitaben says.
"It will increase if we try to keep it new." Good design
is new, she feels. Sangitaben has many dreams. She wants
to make a name for herself, have a good house, and work
together. She has come to KRV because she likes to
learn, and she believes the course will help her take
embroidery forward.
