Sugnaben is one of the youngest Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya students. Bored with school, she left after sixth grade and learned
embroidery from Bhagvatiben, her cousin. The challenge in suf embroidery, Sugnaben feels, is keeping the threads even and stitches
straight. Fine stitches, clean work and light colours are the mark of good work, in her estimation. “We young people are the future
of embroidery,” Sugnaben says. She has been to Bhuj and Tharad, but now would like to see more of the world. Exhibitions are one
way.
