Adil's family has lived in Bhuj for generations. Although they are traditional dyers, Adil's grandfather was a professor. His father Mustak Mohamad Abdul Majid has a government job in BSNL and his mother does bandhani tying. After completing grade 12, Adil learned the traditional family craft, bandhani, from his uncle Akhtar. Akhtarbhai learned bandhani from a friend because of personal interest, and he has taken the craft ahead. Akhtarbhai won a national merit certificate, and his wife Kulsum has also won a national merit certificate.

Adil likes learning new things. Although he has only practiced his traditional craft for a short time, he is eager to take it in new directions. "Whatever work we do, needs effort and perfection," he says. "To make good and new designs the best inspiration is nature."
